SOCIAL CARE & DISABILITY SUPPORT

The British Red Cross
can lend items of medical equipment, such as wheelchairs, bed rests and commodes, to people on a short-term basis. A therapeutic care session offers a relaxing 30 minute session consisting of handcare and hand massage, neck and shoulder massage given through clothing by trained volunteers for those who are anxious, tense or ill.

Dial a Ride scheme for the Machynlleth area uses a minibus which can take wheelchairs. Tel. 01654 700136

CAMAD
has two schemes - a Taxi Card Scheme for housebound people with no transport with a 50% reduction - £5 membership per annum. And a Community Car Scheme where volunteers provide transport in their own cars at reduced cost. Tel. 01654 700071
